Overview

Description

Scuba diving is one of GTA 6's clearest examples of Rockstar expanding the world below the surface as much as the land above it. An Extended Look shows a player swimming through an underwater canyon or cave while wearing scuba equipment, with an oxygen gauge visible on the HUD. Marine life such as rays moves through the same environment, and other official Leonida imagery shows reefs, clear coastal water and a wide variety of sea animals.

Pre-release demonstrations also report that players can dive for treasure, suggesting underwater exploration has objectives beyond sightseeing. This builds naturally on GTA V, where scuba gear, submarine exploration, underwater collectibles and wrecks were already part of Los Santos and Blaine County. GTA 6 appears to make the underwater environment more visually complex and more central to exploration, particularly around the Leonida Keys.

Rockstar has not published a list of dive sites, treasure types or equipment upgrades. It is also unknown whether decompression, air refills or dedicated diving businesses exist. What is confirmed is controllable scuba movement with an oxygen system in explorable underwater terrain.
