Description
Airboats are one of GTA 6's most region-specific additions. An Extended Look shows a fan-powered flat-bottomed boat travelling through shallow turquoise and marshy water, while official Leonida material establishes Grassrivers as a dangerous wetland full of alligators, mangroves and other predators. The vehicle is designed for water too shallow or vegetation-heavy for conventional propeller boats, making it a perfect match for Rockstar's fictional Everglades.
Airboats have appeared far less prominently than conventional boats in previous Grand Theft Auto games, so GTA VI uses them to give Grassrivers its own traversal identity. Their exposed propeller cage, shallow draft and high riding position also create different visual and handling possibilities from speedboats or jet skis.
No airboat races, tours, hunting integrations or specific manufacturers have been announced. The gameplay footage nevertheless shows a character directly operating one in the wetlands. Airboating therefore stands out as one of Leonida's most region-specific ways to explore the map, especially in wetlands where conventional boats would be less practical. Individual airboat models may differ, but the activity itself is centered on navigating shallow swamp channels and open marshland.
