The wait for a proper look at Grand Theft Auto VI is almost over. Rockstar Games has officially confirmed that Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look will premiere on Netflix on August 27, 2026, giving fans what could be their biggest look at the game so far.
The presentation will go live at 3 PM ET, as part of a surprising partnership between Rockstar Games and Netflix. While Rockstar has remained deliberately vague about exactly what will be shown, expectations are extremely high that the event will finally give players an extended look at GTA 6 gameplay, its open world, characters, activities and some of the new mechanics waiting in Leonida.
More Than Just Another GTA 6 Trailer?
So far, GTA 6’s official trailers have mainly focused on the world, characters and story of Jason and Lucia. The August 27 presentation is being promoted very differently.
Instead of calling it “Trailer 3,” Rockstar is using the title “An Extended Look”, suggesting that this could be a much longer presentation than anything we have seen from GTA 6 before.
That immediately raises several possibilities.
We could see uninterrupted gameplay, a deeper exploration of Vice City and Leonida, new vehicles, combat mechanics, police systems, side activities and possibly even a first look at how Rockstar has evolved the classic GTA formula.
And considering that the presentation is premiering directly on Netflix, Rockstar may be planning something much more cinematic than a traditional YouTube gameplay trailer.
Could GTA 6 Get a Three-Episode Mini-Series?
One of the most interesting rumors surrounding the Netflix event suggested that GTA 6: An Extended Look could be divided into three separate episodes.
Screenshots that circulated online appeared to show three episodes attached to the GTA 6 Netflix page, leading some fans to believe Rockstar was preparing a short documentary-style or gameplay mini-series.
However, this information has not been officially confirmed by Rockstar or Netflix, and the authenticity of the three-episode listing has since been disputed.
Still, the idea would make sense for a game as massive as GTA 6.
Instead of trying to reveal everything in one video, Rockstar could theoretically divide the presentation into several parts — for example, one episode focused on Jason and Lucia, another on the open world of Leonida, and a final episode dedicated to gameplay mechanics and activities.
For now, though, fans should treat the three-episode format as speculation rather than confirmation.
August 27 Could Be GTA 6’s Biggest Reveal Yet
Whatever format Rockstar chooses, August 27 is shaping up to be one of the biggest dates in the GTA 6 marketing campaign.
With the game currently scheduled to launch on November 19, 2026 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, Rockstar is entering the final months before release. That makes an in-depth gameplay presentation increasingly likely.
After years of rumors, leaks and short official trailers, fans may finally get the opportunity to see what GTA 6 actually looks like when played.
And if Rockstar really has prepared several sections — or even multiple episodes — the Netflix premiere could become much more than a simple gameplay reveal.
