Overview

Description

Social media is no longer just background satire in GTA 6; it is a functional part of the player's phone and moment-to-moment world. An Extended Look shows a livestream running from inside the trunk of a moving car with a live viewer count, comments and emoji, and the player can open the stream full-screen with a button input. Pre-release demonstrations also report a Snapmatic-style social feed where Jason and Lucia can browse content and follow accounts.

This expands ideas introduced in GTA V, where Lifeinvader, Bleeter and Snapmatic existed as websites and online services but were less tightly integrated into free-roam storytelling. GTA VI uses short-form video, influencers, livestreams and viral posts as part of how Leonida reacts to events and how the player encounters its culture.

Reports indicate that Jason and Lucia browse and follow rather than freely posting every moment, which makes sense for protagonists trying to avoid attention. The final phone apps, recommendation systems and gameplay consequences remain partly unrevealed. Confirmed interactions include browsing social content and opening livestreams, while Rockstar has not yet revealed every app, recommendation system or possible effect that online posts may have on missions and world events.
