Basketball is a playable GTA 6 activity shown at Jason's home, where an on-screen AIM and SHOOT interface confirms direct player control when taking shots at the hoop.

Basketball returns as a genuine playable activity in GTA 6 rather than simply appearing as background decoration. During An Extended Look, Jason is shown holding a basketball beside a hoop near his home, with explicit AIM L2 and SHOOT R2 prompts visible on the HUD. That interface is strong evidence that the player can actively line up and take shots rather than only watching a scripted animation. The court's placement next to Jason's everyday living space also suggests basketball is woven naturally into free-roam life instead of being restricted to a single stadium or formal sports venue.
The feature has important history in Grand Theft Auto. GTA: San Andreas included a basketball interaction at courts around Los Santos, while GTA V filled Los Santos with basketball courts without restoring the same playable shooting system. GTA 6 therefore brings back an activity that has been largely absent as a proper interaction for more than two decades.
Rockstar has not yet detailed scoring rules, multiplayer options, competitions, rewards or whether full one-on-one games are possible. What is confirmed is direct shooting control, making basketball one of the clearest sports activities demonstrated in GTA VI before release.
