GTA VI’s Multiplayer May Nearly Triple Lobby Size to 96 Players

A recent leak—widely discussed on fan forums and covered in PC Gamer and GamesRadar—reveals Rockstar could dramatically expand GTA VI’s online mode (codenamed “GTA6MP”). Former editor Fravilys claims Rockstar is currently testing 64-player servers, with ambitions to push the number up to 96 simultaneous players per session.
What does this mean for players?
“Fluid Access” multi-session design: Enables seamless free-roam with other players from different instances, eliminating loading screens when moving between missions or environments.
Epic crowd dynamics: More crowded streets, chaotic PvP, larger-scale events and heists, and a vibe between traditional 32-player lobbies and FiveM’s huge roleplay servers.
While some fans worry that 96-player lobbies will lead to griefing chaos, others see it as a game-changer—providing the perfect balance of massive-world feel with manageable scale. Rockstar's acquisition of FiveM hints they’re paying close attention to both official and community-driven multiplayer trends.
So far, Rockstar hasn’t confirmed these plans. Still, if GTA 6 delivers a stable, high-capacity online world, it could transform the future of GTA Online 2.0—setting a new standard for scale, immersion, and player-driven storytelling.
